The Mercedes CLA45 and GLA45 AMG models are getting an upgrade in the power department.

Recently, the Mercedes A45 AMG, which is not sold in the US, received a facelift along with a boost in power, from 355 hp to 376 hp. In addition, torque was boosted by 18 lb-ft to a total of 350 lb-ft.

AMG head Tobias Moers has confirmed that the same engine upgrades will be heading to the CLA45 and GLA45 AMG models, along with a revised seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with shorter ratios for quicker response times and a new mechanical locking front differential to improve handling.

Future CLA45 and GLA45 AMG owners won’t have to wait for those models to receive a facelift for the extra power, as Moers said that the changes would come “before long,” likely meaning for the next model year. The performance changes on the A45 AMG help shave 0.4 seconds off its 0-62 mph to 4.2 seconds. A similar improvement on the CLA45 AMG would give the four-door coupe a 0-62 mph time of 4.2 seconds while the GLA45 AMG would do the sprint in 4.4 seconds.
