The Mitsuoka Roadster is now available in the UK, bringing an interesting spin to classic British styling.

Based on the Mazda MX-5 Miata, the Mitsuoka Roadster is the latest retro-styled offering from the Japanese company that specializes in hand-built luxury vehicles. Power for the Mitsuoka Roadster comes from the same 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine with 158 hp found in the outgoing Miata. Shoppers in the UK will be able to purchase the Roadster with either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed Powershift automatic.

Standard equipment on the Mazda MX-5 Miata gone British luxury are 17-inch wheels, heated leather seats, leather trim on the steering wheel, gear lever and hand brake, Bluetooth, cruise control, climate control and power steering. The manual transmission-equipped models also receive sport suspension while the automatic model has a softer setup.

Mitsuoka will cater to customers that want bespoke options on their vehicle, including the choice of different wheels or a turbocharged powerplant for more performance. Pricing on the Mitsuoka Roadster starts at £53,800 ($82,400) with the only available options being metallic or pearl paint for £620 and satellite navigation for £580. Select dealers in the south of England now have the Mitsuoka Roadster available for sale with the first cars being delivered at the end of the month. The company hopes to sell around 20-25 units this year and is looking to expand to Germany later this year.
