Kia is hard at work on self-driving car technology, some of which will be introduced into its cars by 2020.

The Korean brand is targeting 2030 for its fully self-driving vehicle which is currently under development. The brand will begin by introducing semi-autonomous systems in the Sportage, Optima and Sorento which will handle some of the driving by the year 2020.

Called the advanced driver assistance system, the suite of technolgoy incorporates highway driving assist, traffic jam assist and smart parking. With these systems, Kia vehicles will be able to drive on the highway by themselves, park themselves and navigate stop-and-go traffic without driver input.

Looking ahead at fully driverless cars, Kia is investing its research time into vehicle-to-vehicle, vehicle-to-infrastructure and vehicle-to-everything communications.
