Spied 2019 Chevrolet Silverado Prototype Is Pretending to Be a Ford
Chevrolet has been caught testing its next-generation Silverado pickup truck.
Spied while undergoing traction tests at a winter testing facility, these are the best photos spy photographers have managed to grab yet of the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado. The new prototypes are hitting the ice, allowing us to see it from all angles even though it’s heavily camouflaged. What’s particularly entertaining is that Chevrolet engineers are trying to trick onlookers into believing this is a Ford prototype, with F-150-shaped tail light camouflage and even a fake oval within the front grille. This is actually a common tactic from GM, which has done this in the past with the Tahoe and Yukon prototypes.

It is believed Chevrolet is turning to aluminum just like the new Ford F-150 to shed weight, despite the fact that current Chevy marketing is all about criticizing Ford’s use of aluminum. Expected to reach the market in late 2018 as a 2019 model, the new Silverado aims to be a lighter, stronger and more efficient.
