Toyota continues to dominate the auto industry in terms of value, according to Interbrand.

Interbrand has released its 2017 global rankings for the best brand value and a total of 15 automakers made the overall list this year. Interbrand methodology for rankings combine evaluations of a brand’s financial performance and ability to influence consumer choice.

This year’s rankings closely resemble those of 2016 and suggest a level of consistency because each of the auto brands in the top 10 are retaining their brand power.

10. Porsche

Porsche takes the tail end of this list with +6% growth. Its brand value clocks in at $10.13-billion and it retains its No. 10 ranking from last year.

9. Volkswagen

Unlike last year where it received a negative growth of -1%, this year’s rankings mark a positive growth of +1% for VW with a brand value of $11.52-billion despite hanging in the same position as last year.


8. Nissan

Nissan also continues the trend of positive growth with a +4% figure and a brand value of $11.53-billion.


7. Audi

Audi also appears on the list this year with a +2% growth and a corresponding brand value of $12-billion.


6. Hyundai

In at No. 6, Hyundai shows a very commendable +5% growth and brand value figure of $13.2-billion.


5. Ford

Ford’s status as a leading global brand continues with a $13.6-billion brand value and +5% growth.


4. Honda

Honda continues to impress with a +3% growth figure and $22.7-billion brand value.


3. BMW

BMW shows its solid history as a respected global brand by sticking in the No. 3 position with a 0% growth score and $41.5-billion brand value.


2. Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes posts the highest growth change (+10%) in the entire top 10 list. Its brand value is at $47.8-billion.


1. Toyota

Right at the top of the list is Toyota. It retains its position from last year as leader of the pack amongst its fellow automakers. Despite its -6% dip, it has a solid lead over its closest competition (Mercedes-Benz) and a $50.3-billion brand value. Interestingly, it was ranked as more valuable than Netflix, Facebook, McDonalds and Disney, and trails just behind Samsung, Amazon, and Coca-Cola.
