Chevrolet is offering 2018 Detroit Auto Show attendees a unique 4D virtual reality experience.

For the first time, the American automaker will give show goers a behind-the-scenes look at vehicle testing through a 4D virtual reality experience. Located at the Chevrolet display, the Virtual Dynamics Lab is a curated 4D experience that offers a virtual 360-degree, front seat passenger ride through a variety of courses, including gravel roads, extreme temperature labs, and rock climbs that a person would find at GM’s testing facilities.

The Chevrolet Virtual Dynamics Lab experience will be open during normal hours on public show days, running from January 20, 2018 to February 8, 2018. Those under the age of 18 will have to be at least 48 inches tall in order to participate in the experience.

Before a vehicle hits the market, Chevrolet puts each model through rigorous testing. To give us an idea of how extensive new-vehicle testing is, the all-new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado will accumulate seven-million miles of testing and validation before the automaker delivers the first truck. General Motors’ Milford Proving Grounds test facility features 4,000 acres of surfaces that equate to 137 miles of two-lane road.

“Chevrolet is committed to delivering high-quality, durable vehicles able to withstand some of the harshest weather conditions and most unique driving situations people encounter today,” said Alan Batey, president of GM North America and head of Global Chevrolet. “With this new Chevrolet Virtual Dynamics Lab experience, we are offering consumers the opportunity to be immersed in our rigorous testing processes and to better understand the capability built into our lineup of vehicles.”
