The 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLE crossover has been caught testing with barely any camouflage.

The new GLE will replace the current model and will join the GLE Coupe in Mercedes’ mid-size crossover portfolio. It will tap Mercedes’ MRA rear-wheel drive platform, which also serves in the current E-Class, C-Class and GLC, among more. The GLE will likely be offered with all-wheel drive as standard in the United States, however certain Euro-spec models may be rear-wheel drive only in a bid to save weight and improve fuel economy.

As this gallery reveals, the 2019 GLE will appear almost identical to the smaller Mercedes-Benz GLC.

As for the interior, you can expect Mercedes’ widescreen MBUX dual display to occupy the dash. Other new Mercedes styling cues could be on the table as well, such as changeable ambient lighting and turbine air vents.

Under the hood may be Mercedes’ new inline-six family of engines, which would likely be joined by a 48V mild-hybrid system. AMG versions will almost certainly feature its 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine.

The 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLE will debut later this year before going on sale in Q4 or early 2019.
