2019 Camaro ZL1 1LE Shows Off New Rear End, Mirror Cam in Spy Pics
Blessedly spared from the 2019 front-end refresh, the 2019 Camaro ZL1 1LE has been spied at Milford Proving Grounds, showing off an updated rear-end, as well as an odd fin-mounted camera.
Whereas, the ZL1 will have a rearview camera mounted on the rear wing with a feed going to the mirror, like in Cadillacs, order sheets suggest that the mirror-cam will be deleted for the 1LE.
In the past, this would have easily been explained by the 1LE’s wing, which doesn’t allow for a camera, but this prototype clearly has something (which look an awful lot like a camera) in the shark fin antenna on top of the car, and could potentially have something to do with this not having a satin black hood.
It does, at least, appear to have a lens, but we’ll just assume that it’s a way to upload videos of cars disappearing behind you when you’re on track until we hear otherwise. That might be a new feature of the 2019’s (actual) improved performance data recorder.

The taillights and rear bumper, meanwhile, look like the rest of the Camaro lineup’s new lights, which haven’t been the internet’s favorites. They should at least help car spotters know the difference.
Inside, meanwhile, like the rest of the line-up, the ZL1 1LE will get Chevrolet Infotainment 3, with an 8-inch color touchscreen, and integrated navigation.
You’ll also get better wireless charging and new ambient lighting colors.
We anticipate no changes to the drivetrain, which means a 6.2-liter V8 with a six-speed manual (God bless Chevy) making 650 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque.
