Mercedes-Benz is bringing a beefed-up track-ready version of the AMG GT R to the LA Auto Show next week.

The company isn’t saying much, but it is giving us a photo of the new AMG GT R Pro ahead of the official reveal. Mercedes-AMG says that the car “incorporated the findings from our successful Customer Racing activities with AMG GT3 and AMG GT4 racing cars.”

What does that mean? Well, it looks like some extra aero bits. Like that massive front splitter jutting from the bumper. With some canards hidden on the corners. The headlights look to have a new LED running light shape as well. Expect more downforce at the rear, with aero bits taken from the race cars – or at least inspired by the race cars – to help keep the handling balance intact. Mercedes says that the GT R Pro was “modified in numerous details to deliver even more racetrack performance.” Is more power on the table, or just more grip? We’ll have to wait and see.

The new GT R Pro isn’t the only AMG GT news headed for LA. Mercedes says that the GT series will get some changes to emphasize the car’s relationship with the four-door AMG GT Coupe. That means changes to the car inside and out, but again we’ll have to wait and see the extent of the revisions.
