Believe it or not, 2020 is just around the corner, which means it’s time for New Year’s resolutions. The problem is, most resolutions are forgotten by February, so why not commit to taking better care of your car? After all, they’re not exactly a cheap investment and a little elbow grease can go a long way in making your car last. To welcome the New Year, we’ve compiled a list of the top 10 products we think every car owner should purchase heading into 2020.

Some of these products are designed to help maintain your car in good running condition, while others will keep your exterior and interior looking like new. It doesn’t matter if your car is 10 months old or 10 years old, there’s no better time than now to give it some loving care.

1. Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash

Start off the New Year with a clean car by grabbing yourself some of Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash. One of the most popular car shampoos of 2019, Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash is designed to clean and condition your car in one step. The non-detergent, advanced formula is pH-balanced so it won't strip away any sort of wax protection that's already on your car. And if you've got a pressure washer and foam cannon, you can do a 5:1 mix with this shampoo to make quick work of all that dirt and grime on the surface of your car.

2. CarGuys Super Cleaner

Now that you've got the exterior of your car handled, it's time to make your interior look brand new. Grab yourself a bottle of CarGuys' Super Cleaner, a fantastic all-purpose cleaner that will get rid of any dust, dirt, and grime inside your cabin. This multi-surface cleaner can be used on nearly every interior and exterior surface except for glass or delicate instrument panel screens. That means a single product can take care of your upholstery, fabric, canvas, leather, vinyl, plastic, rubber, metal, and more. It's worth noting that CarGuys' Super Cleaner doesn't contain UV protectant shine, so no residue or gloss will be left behind. If you want more protection, grab a bottle of CarGuys' UV Guard or Fabric Guard for UV protection.

3. Carfidant Scratch & Swirl Remover

Have some unsightly scratches and swirls you've been ignoring? Ring in the New Year by getting rid of them with Carfidant's Scratch & Swirl Remover. Designed for light scratches, this product includes a convenient buffer pad so you can get working on your car right away. It features a specially formulated compound that removes light scratches, while restoring the gloss and shine of your paint. Just keep in mind that if you're able to easily feel a scratch with the tip of your fingernail, this product likely won't work for you.

Carfidant's Scratch & Swirl Remover is safe to use on all paints and colors.

4. EPAuto Portable Air Compressor Pump

If you haven't been paying much attention to your tire pressure, make it a New Year's resolution to make sure your tires aren't underinflated or overinflated. Improperly inflated tires not only affect your fuel economy, but their wear as well, which means you might not be getting the maximum life out of your tires. This portable tire inflator from EPAuto was one of the most popular products with our readers in 2019. Simply plug it into your car's cigarette lighter receptacle and get your tires to the right pressure.

The unit displays in PSI, KPA, BAR, or KG/CM and includes a built-in LED flashlight for nighttime use. More importantly, this portable air compressor pump will automatically shut off once your tire reaches the desired tire pressure. Unfortunately it's not intended for use with truck tires, so shop for something more heavy duty if you have a truck.

5. ThisWorx Car Vacuum

If you care about your car's interior, you should invest into a portable car vacuum. Featuring a powerful 106w motor, ThisWorx's car vacuum lets you get rid of that mess inside your car with little fuss. Attached to the vacuum is a 16-foot long power cord, which conveniently uses your car's cigarette lighter receptacle for power. ThisWorx also includes an elastic hose and nozzle set for hard-to-reach areas, along with a carrying bag and an extra HEPA filter.

As you can tell with one quick look, the vacuum features a transparent trash container so you'll know when it's full and needs emptying. The vacuum works for both wet and dry dirt and it's easy to empty once you're done cleaning.

6. 3M Headlight Restoration System

Got old and foggy headlights that could use some restoring? Grab yourself a 3M Headlight Restoration System and get your headlights looking brand new. This kit can also work on your tail lights, fog lights or directional lights, although one kit won't cover all your lighting. Each kit includes masking tape, light sanding discs, wax protectant, and complete instructions to restore your plastic lenses. By using 3M abrasive technology, you can remove yellowing and buildup without damaging the plastic surface on your lenses.

It's a fairly easy-to-use kit and no tools are required, although you can make the job a bit easier with a household drill. Look to spend about an hour to restore your headlights using 3M's four-step process.

7. AmazonBasics Microfiber Cleaning Cloth (24-Pack)

Not much explanation needed here—every car owner should have a few microfiber towels handy in their garage. AmazonBasics has affordable microfiber towels you can get, available in packs of 24, 36, 48, or even 144. These ultra soft, non-abrasive cloths won't scratch the paint on your car or leave lint behind, while giving you a streak-free finish. AmazonBasics says these towels absorb up to 8 times its own weight and each pack comes with 3 different colored towels (blue, yellow, and white) so you can organize your detailing sessions accordingly.

These microfiber cleaning cloths measure 12" by 16" and are machine washable so they can be reused hundreds of times.

8. AstroAI Digital Tire Pressure Gauge

We stressed the importance of having proper tire inflation earlier with our portable air compressor recommendation, and a tire pressure gauge is also an important tool to own. This digital unit from AstroAI is extremely affordable, featuring a backlit LCD display and lighted nozzle for use in dimly lit areas. The nozzle easily forms a seal with the valve stem on schrader valves, delivering quick and accurate readings in 0.5 increments. This tire pressure gauge will display in PSI, BAR, KG/CM2, and KPA.

To preserve battery life, the gauge will automatically shut off after 30 to 40 seconds when it's not being used. It sports an ergonomic design with a non-slip texture, so it's not awkward to hold or use. AstroAI includes a 1-year warranty with this gauge, as well as a battery.

9. FORTEM Car Trunk Organizer

Stay organized in the New Year with this car trunk organizer from FORTEM. Featuring reinforced base plates, sturdy side walls, and strong carrying handles, this trunk organizer is built to last. Non-slip strips found on the bottom along with included securing straps prevent the organizer from sliding around. Measuring 22.15" by 16" by 10.5", this organizer has multiple compartments and mesh pockets to hold anything from tools to groceries. It's also collapsible for easy storage when it's not in use.

10. Subzero Snow Brush

Many of you are likely dealing with snow heading into the New Year, and if it's become an inconvenience, get yourself a snow brush. This one from Subzero measures 26" long and boasts 4 rows of sturdy plush bristles to make removing heavy snow a breeze. On the other end is a 4" wide scraper blade with tough ice chippers, if you need to clear off thick ice from your car. A contour soft foam grip makes this snow brush comfortable to use.
