The BMW X7 is the brand’s family-orientated three-row SUV. Of course it features all the luxury amenities one would expect from something wearing a BMW badge. With three rows of seats, there’s space for the entire family and then some.

Of course, just because it’s a family vehicle doesn’t mean it has to be boring. The X7 can be had with upwards of 631 hp from a turbocharged V8 engine.

Pros

Ultra-comfy interior, best gas engines in the class, bursting with tech

Cons

Not quite flagship status, tight third row, divisive looks

Bottom Line

The BMW X7 is an excellent three-row SUV that's as comfortable running road trips as it is tackling back roads.

2024 BMW X7 M60i Review – Three Rows, Six Figures, Infinite Comfort

Twenty feet of driving and one parking lot exit is all it took. Behind the wheel of the 2024 BMW X7 M60i for the first time, I immediately felt something was different. I just drove over a 2-inch curbed exit from the parking lot onto the road and I felt…nothing. No jostling, no bucking, no sensation at all. It was as if that obstacle didn’t exist as the big BMW floated right over it. It was there I discovered the BMW X7 is something special when it comes to comfort.

3 Reasons the 2024 BMW X7 Excels at Comfort

We recently spent a week with the 2024 BMW X7 M60i and were immediately enamoured with the levels of comfort it provides. As a six-figure SUV with a sports car heart (and fuel thirst), we expected the big Bimmer to be posh, but weren't prepared for how serene the driving experience is.

Coddling occupants is what the vehicle does best as we learned during our time with it. In the end, it was three key aspects of the X7 that really stood out to us. Below, we've summarized each one.

5 Ways the 2023 BMW X7 xDrive40i is the Ideal Holiday Road Trip SUV

They say you don’t just marry the person; you marry the family.

Being elder millennials, my wife and I have families as blended as Bob Ross’ palette at the end of a show. There are no less than seven parents who raised us, and most of them have their own family events over the holidays.

That’s why there was a certain level of poetry about my holiday season test car, the 2023 BMW X7 xDrive40i. For one week at the end of 2022, we would need to visit all* of them. Seven families, seven days, in an X7— Reese and Vince ain’t got nothin’ on us.

2023 BMW X7 Review: First Drive

It’s a mid-cycle refresh for the 2023 BMW X7.

Joining the tall kidneys are extra-narrow headlights to make the new face of BMW’s luxury models. IDrive 8 arrives with the curved display that debuted in the iX, and the X7 gets a pair of revised engines including an extra 375 hp for the six and mild hybrid systems across the board.

You’re going to spot the X7’s new nose first, because, well, it’s impossible to miss. The headlights have been split into a lower main lamp and the high-mounted LED running lights. It’s polarizing, but during three days with the X7 at BMW’s launch event in Palm Springs, we’ll admit it started to grow on us. If you want a distraction, know that the kidney grille can now light up after dark, so maybe that’s the spot to direct your ire. The back end is nearly the same, but BMW has changed the taillight inlay graphics and smoked the glass hiding the chrome strip on the split-opening tailgate.
