With improvements made to the race car using feedback from driver Ken Gushi, the Lexus IS-F CCS-R set out to conquer this year’s Pikes Peak in hopes of joining the nine-minute club.

For 2013, Lexus and its IS-F CCS-R team had lofty goals now that the entire course has been paved. But weather threw a sharp dagger in their plans, as the IS-F CCS-R had to settle for a 12:03.085 time. Nonetheless, it’s always an impressive feat for any car to climb the entire hill.

Last year, the IS-F CCS-R ran a 10:30.850 time, so conquering the mountain in nine-minutes is entirely feasible for the sedan. Hopefully next year the weather will hold up and the team can complete their goals. Watch a video below of the IS-F CCS-R getting prepared for the race and some in-car footage of Ken Gushi piloting the CCS-R up the hill.
