Mercedes-Benz Teases Its All-Electric Hatch Concept

The Mercedes Concept EQ A will bow in Frankfurt.

The new concept making its debut on September 12 will preview a future all-electric hatchback from the German automaker. As the EQ A nameplate suggests, the model will be an entry-level offering akin to the A-Class that currently isn’t sold in North America. Reports say the EQ A will likely follow the EQ C crossover when it comes to market launches, and we will likely find out more on whether Mercedes plans on bringing the production EQ A to North America.

If the whole “EQ” nameplate sounds foreign to you, it’s Mercedes-Benz’s new sub-brand focused on electrified vehicles, just like BMW’s i sub-brand. Trademark registrations suggest Mercedes will eventually bring EQ E and EQ S models as well.
