Mercedes-Benz is in the process of developing a next-generation A-Class sedan/hatch, and it’s now shared photos of the all-new compact’s surprisingly luxurious interior.

As you can see, the interior of the new A-Class looks nearly identical to other new Mercedes vehicles – including the CLS, which Mercedes also teased with an interior shot earlier this week. Its widescreen digital display is standard and occupies the majority of the dash. Flanking it are turbine-style air vents, which are joined by ambient lighting signatures with over 64 available colors.

Mercedes says the A-Class’ contour front seats will also have available heating and cooling and a massage function. Other elements plucked from higher-end Mercedes vehicles include the steering wheel, which is from the S-Class, and the various materials on offer such as open pore wood and high-quality leather.

“The interior of the new A-Class is a major step towards the avantgarde, and unique especially with respect to the open space architecture and the ultra-modern display and control concept,” said head of interior design at Mercedes, Hartmut Sinkwitz. “It lends a new quality to the term “modern luxury” in the compact segment, and is an inner revolution.”

We’re expecting the all-new A-Class to make its debut sometime next year. The exterior design of the compact was previewed by the Mercedes Concept A Sedan, and spy photos have revealed it will likely look very similar to that design study.
