Mid Engine Corvette Caught Testing in Colorado

A pair of mid-engine Corvettes have been caught testing in Colorado. The two cars were filmed driving ahead of a ZR1 by a YouTuber taking their Land Cruiser for a drive in the small town of Leadville.

Leadville sits at nearly 10,000 feet above sea-level, so the Corvettes were likely running tests at altitude.

Although we’re not quite sure what the ZR1 was doing with the C8s, it did appear to be acting a blocker car (kind of like the Bandit). At one point, it seems to move out from behind cars, to give them a clear lane to change into–which doesn’t reflect on the cars’ rear visibility under camouflage.

CAD drawings posted to Corvette Forum on Boxing Day suggest that the engine powering the Corvette will be a double overhead cam, twin turbo V8 called the LT7.

Others, meanwhile, have suggested that the car will feature a 6.2-liter V8 making around 460 hp. And with two cars spotted, it could be that rumors of two engine options are correct, though this is hardly confirmation.
